We the People: Through Indigenous American Eyes

This second video in our ongoing “Remember the Preamble” series features an Indigenous American loop-artist performer playing soulful American singer/songwriter music near Zion National Park. Through music and presence, it reminds us that the words “We the People” carry centuries of meaning, trials, and promise—not just from 1776, but from the deep roots of America before it became a nation.

The question remains: Who is “We”? Who is included? Who is excluded?

The Indigenous voice is central to the American story. Too often left out or treated as an historical footnote, Native communities embody a living continuity with this land that predates the Constitution itself. Their inclusion in the evolving definition of “We the People” is not just an act of justice—it is a reckoning with truth.
